We are closing in on 100 episodes of “Downsize, Maybe” since the blog began appearing in ChicagoNow. Over 32,000 reader hits (I know, some sites do that in 20 minutes.) The name of the blog refers to our construction project, but regular readers know that we have talked lots of things in addition to whether the windows should have muntins, or how high should the ceiling be in the loft. Some politics, some medicine (particularly laboratory based) and some attempts at humor or satire have found there way here. As the century mark approaches I thought I would look back at some of my favorite pieces as well as some of the most widely read ones.  Each is linked to the original posting. Feel free to read, reread, or just browse.

• After a day at the movies we challenged Will Smith to help us survive an apocalypse.
• We talked quite a bit about Elizabeth Holmes and the fiasco that was Theranos Lab. Here is where we introduced her to you.
• PSA testing and prostate cancer have been more than occasional topics. We saluted Medicare for doing the right thing, and warned about the dangers of not testing.
• Lots of you got a kick out of our farewell to Noodle-Roni.
• We talked some family history, including tales of my father-in-law, the loving battles between my mother and aunt, and my dad’s immigration.
• I rapped to the Tony’s, though the feedback wasn’t all positive.
• We explored the never ending challenge of being a parent and looked at Family Feuding with Steve Harvey too!
• I explained a little about my profession of pathology and defended it against an avian invasion.
• Yes, we took some shots at The Donald, but didn’t forget about The Bernie.
• We celebrated our laboratory and the people in it.
• We gave blood and encouraged you to do the same. That post received a ChicagoNow Bloggers Award.
• Of course we probed our home construction including a tour with true American heroes Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton.
• Although I have said that I am not a ranter, my most widely read blog was the outburst aimed at American Airlines and its CEO Doug Parker. Maybe I should get angry more often!

And there were many, many more. So thanks to all the readers, the commenters, the e-mailers, and the biggest thanks to Barb, for never once saying “Why did you write that???”
